Denying the Resurrection: A Grave Mistake.

Episode #4 of Counter-punching the Counterfeit

Last week we talked about how the death of Jesus on the cross was in fact literal, physical, actually Jesus on an actual cross. Hopefully you’re aware that He didn’t stay dead, but had a literal, physical resurrection from the dead!

You can listen to this message in the archive section of our PODCAST page.

What are some of the lies people say about it?

  • The “swoon” theory once again, people believe that Jesus never actually died and was able to just get out of the tomb without trouble. *Tis’ but a scratch sound effect*

  • The disciples stole the body of Jesus to make it look like He rose from the dead.

  • Muslims believe since Jesus never died in the first place, He was simply taken up into Heaven.

  • The Jehovah’s Witnesses believe Jesus ceased to exist during the 3 days He was dead and came back in spiritual form as Michael the Archangel.

  • Some believe none of this happened in the first place. It was all just a legend.

What are some proofs we have on the resurrection being true?

  • It was foretold. Luke 24:47, Psalm 16:10

  • Jesus actually died, refer to our previous podcast.

  • The tomb was empty.

  • Jesus was seen alive afterward

  • Lives are radically transformed.

Why is the resurrection so important?

  • It’s not just important, it’s completely necessary to believe this to be a Christian. We serve the risen Christ and none other!

  • 1 Corinthians 15:12-58 For further information, check out The Case for Christ by Lee Strobel, or Evidence That Demands a Verdict by Josh McDowell. James Warner Wallace is another man who set out to investigate the claims of Christianity, and like many others was overwhelmed by all the evidence in support of it that he also repented and believed. His book is called Cold Case Christianity and I highly recommend it!

Here is an interesting video on the resurrection and its importance.
